![]() If the father is alive and the mother has passed away, they are not entitled to do Tharpanams. Regarding the Tharpanam - this should be done only by those sons whose father is also not alive. The Varushabdheegam would be performed for 4 days as it was done during the death - 10th day, 11, 12 and 13th day. These Maasikam dates would be calculated only by the Vaadhiyar or Sastrigal who will give the dates' list to the Eldest son. Otherwise, only during the 1st year Srardham or the Varushabdheegam all the sons should be present compulsorily. The other sons if they are nearer to the eldest son, they also would attend the ceremonies. ![]() For these only the Eldest son is entitled to perform. In between this Maasikam, the 27th day, 45th day and the 6th month will be performed separately within the 1st year. every month on the same thithi till 1 year after which the Varushabdheegam is performed as the 1st year Srardham. If you belong to Brahmin community, the Eldest son of the demised person should perform this Maasikam, Sodhambam etc. So, there is no question of the 1st day thithi or 2nd day thithi.Ĥ.Regarding Thithi, I think I have explained above.Ībout Matchagam or Maasikam (colloquially) I think you would have already performed it during 2017 till 2018. In that it is actually ekadasi but the thithi is only Dwadasi. For example, as I have mentioned, you can see the above date calendar. Even if the thithi continues for 2 days, only on one day it will be mentioned, it will not be mentioned for 2 days as dwadasi and dwadasi. You should not do it in the Krishna paksha.ģ. If the demise took place on Sukhla Paksha, you should perform the Srardham only on the Sukhla paksha thithi mentioned in the panchangam. You should see only this and then fix the Srartham date. You can either see in these Daily calendars or in the Panchangam it will be mentioned (probably on the left side of the specific date (day)) as Srartha Thithi. Though it is Ekadasi, we should look only for the Thithi on that day for these Srardham purposes. So, this day was the 12th day after Amavasya and hence it is Sukhla paksha Dwadasi. ![]() ![]() In this it is mentioned as both Ekadasi and Dwadasi. Now, as you have mentioned the date of demise of your Father in law as 7th feb. So, the next year and the coming years onwards, the same tamil month, thithi and paksha, on which the demise took place should be observed to do the rituals (Srardham). In every month, 15 days after the Amavasya is considered as Sukhla Paksha and 15 days after the Pournami is considered as Krishna Paksha. Now let me explain about this Sukhla Paksha and Krishna Paksha in a simple way: If we note down in any gadget, it may vanish some time or other. This we can note down in any important place so that we cannot forget the exact date. So, we should make note of it whether it is Sukhla paksha thithi or Krishna paksha thithi. To calculate the Yearly Thithi, first of all after the demise of the male's parents, the purohit who performs the rituals would have told about the Thithi on which the person has died. ![]()
